¡SOY Von Funk!

“Bobby, I don’t know, but whats’n ever I play, it’s got to be funky.” – James Brown

¿Qué onda?

I’m an artist and musician who thoroughly enjoys exploring the myriad cracks between those two vital mediums. In this evermore digitized world, I turn to the past to understand nostalgia and to explore pop cultural cycles. I embrace subjects, styles and methods that many consider to be passé; I make analog art for a digital world.

I have long been a creative factotum and have been obsessed with developing my own processes ajd techniques over the years. The majority of my current work utilizes mixed media on custom wood boxes, wood panels, guitars and skateboard decks. I like to use stain, pyrography, pencil, charcoal, ink, watercolor, airbrush, metal foil, acrylic, traditional oil and oil enamels (but not always all together)

I am inspired by vibrant color and rich harmonics. I am driven by the vengeful furies of rhythm, contrast and irony, and I am consistently surprised by the complexity of what even the simplest color palette can accomplish.

I am passionate about community and shared experiences, and I believe that without the cathartic laughter of satire and good humor, life would be entirely hollow, so you gotta make it funky.
